  • Fresh Tomato Feta Dip Recipe

This Fresh Tomato Feta Dip is quite literally the easiest recipe of all time. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Chop and crumble.
  2. Dump and mix.

That’s it! Seriously. This recipe is made just 5 ingredients and there’s no cooking or baking required. Just combine chopped tomato, crumbled feta, oil, seasonings, and green onions in a bowl, give it a good mix, and dig in!

This recipe makes for an excellent and crowd-pleasing appetizer but also works great as a condiment on your favorite protein!

Why I LOVE this recipe!

  • Easy and accessible ingredients – Just grab some cherry tomatoes, a block of feta, Greek seasoning, oil, and green onions at the grocery store and you’re set.
  • No cooking needed – No stove or oven needed to put this dip together. Just a few minutes of prep and it’s ready to eat!
  • Incredible flavor and texture – I mean, what’s better than the sweet burst of cherry tomatoes paired with the creamy saltiness of feta cheese?
  • Crowd pleaser – Just watch how fast this disappears at your next party! One taste and people will be going back for seconds!

Recipe Notes

This tomato feta dip recipe is as simple as promised! Just 5 ingredients and a few minutes of prep for a mouthwatering appetizer.

In this section I am going to go through a few tips and tricks I use for how to make feta tomato dip to get the absolute best and most delicious results.

Make sure to scroll to the bottom for the FULL recipe card.

Ingredients + Substitutions

feta tomato green onion dip ingredients.
  • Tomatoes – I use quartered (or smaller) cherry tomatoes because I love their bright, vibrant, and sweet flavor. If you prefer, you can use diced Roma tomatoes, beefsteak tomato, or grape tomatoes. Any kind will do the trick!
  • Feta Cheese – For the best flavor and texture, I recommend using a whole block of feta cheese, then crumbling that with your hands. It’s creamier and richer in flavor!
  • Green Onions – Be sure to very thinly slice the onions so that onion flavor incorporates throughout the dip without any big chunks. It should complement the other flavors, not overtake them!
  • Greek Seasoning – I use Cavender’s pre-made Greek seasoning to keep it easy. It is usually pretty readily available at most grocery stores! Alternatively, if you’re feeling a little more ambitious, you can whip up a batch of my homemade Greek seasoning.
  • Extra-Virgin Olive Oil – A drizzle of olive oil rounds out the brighter flavors in this dip perfectly.

Make sure to see the recipe card at the bottom of this post for the full quantities and ingredients list.

Recipe Variations

If you love this recipe as much as we do and want some quick ways to change it up for variety, these little tips will do the trick!

  • Baked Feta Tomato Dip – Make a baked feta dip by simply adding all of the ingredients to a baking dish, bake until the tomatoes are nice and juicy and the cheese is melty, mix, and serve hot!
  • Feta Sun Dried Tomato Dip – Swap the fresh cherry tomatoes out for chopped sun dried tomatoes for a slightly richer flavor.
  • Avocado Tomato and Feta Dip – Try adding a little extra creamy freshness to your dip with some diced avocado.

Recipe Step by Step

how to make tomato feta dip, 1)chop tomatoes, 2) combine tomatoes, green onion, and feta in a bowl, 3)add oil and seasonings, 4)combine.

I am going to highlight a few key steps in the recipe here, but make sure to jump down to the recipe card for comprehensive instructions on how to make feta and tomato dip.

  1. Step 1– Cut the cherry tomatoes into quarters or smaller,
  2. Step 2– Crumble the feta cheese, and finely slice the green onion.
  3. Step 3– Combine all three in a bowl, reserving 1 tablespoon of feta. Add on the Greek seasoning and olive oil.
  4. Step 4- Garnish the bowl with the reserved tablespoon of feta, then serve immediately or store in the fridge.

Recipe Tips

  1. Use a feta cheese block – I’ll say this again and again! The flavor and texture of a feta cheese block just can’t be emulated by the pre-crumbled feta you can find at the store.
  2. Chop the tomatoes small – I recommend chopping each cherry tomato into quarters so the tomato pieces incorporate well with the feta crumbles. Whole cherry tomatoes, although small, are still just slightly too big to create a uniform dip.
  3. Taste and season as needed – I find the dip to be perfect as-is, but feel free to play around with other seasonings as desired. Try adding some red pepper flakes for spice, a sprinkle of fresh black pepper, or even a little extra salt if you like a more salty dip.

Recipe Short Cuts

If you need to make this recipe, but are extra short on time, here are a few ideas that can help make this recipe even faster!

  • Use pre-crumbled feta – I think it’s worth the extra time to manually crumble up a fresh block of feta, but if you want to save a little bit of time, feel free to use pre-crumbled feta instead.
  • Prepare the dip ahead of time – There really isn’t a whole lot that goes into this recipe, so you can take a few minutes the day before you plan to serve it to just prep your ingredients and dump them in a bowl. That way, it’s ready to go when you’re ready to eat!

What to Serve with Fresh Tomato Feta Dip

Since this protein based dinner has the delicious flavors of classic Greek food, it will pair well with many of your favorite Greek-inspired dishes. It can also be served with a number of different dippers!

Choose one or several of these side dishes to create a wholesome, well-rounded dinner. There are both classic options and some healthy options to keep it light.

Dippers

  • Bread – Pile it onto baguette slices, toasted or untoasted, or serve it with crostini.
  • Chips and Crackers – Serve it with your favorite crackers or pita chips.
  • Veggies – Lighten it up by serving it alongside sliced cucumber or bell pepper for a fresh and crunchy appetizer.

Proteins

  • Lemon Basil Chicken – What flavors pair perfectly with feta and tomato? Lemon and basil of course! Add a scoop of the feta dip onto a lemon basil chicken cutlet for a light, fresh, and decadent meal.
  • One Pan Tuscan Pork Chops – Use the feta dip in place of the Roma tomatoes in my Tuscan pork chops recipe. I
  • Greek Chicken Bites – Mix it into a helping of my 4-ingredient Greek chicken bites for a simple dish that’s bursting with flavor.

Feta and Tomato Dip Leftovers

If you have leftovers after making this recipe, then it is your lucky day! They save well, and can make the start of another delicious dish or appetizer.

To save leftovers, place in an airtight container and store:

  • in the refrigerator for 3-4 days

Leftover Recipes

Here are a few ways to repurpose those leftovers and give them a delicious makeover!

  • Greek Chicken Wraps – Wrap it up in a Greek chicken wrap with tender chicken, Tzatziki, falafal, kalamata olives, and more!
  • Feta Chicken Bake – Use it in feta chicken bake recipe to make an already simple recipe even simpler. Just chicken and garlic needed to round your recipe out!

Recipe FAQ’s

Can you make tomato feta dip ahead of time?

Absolutely! You can prepare the tomato feta dip a day in advance, then let it sit in the fridge until you’re ready to serve it. This allows the seasonings to really soak into the cheese for an even better flavor the next day!
