Delicious Antipasto Salad

I was always afraid to order antipasto salad because I never really knew what it was. Once I did I realized how delicious it was and I had to recreate it for my own house.

One thing I love about antipasto salad is how you can eat it throughout the week for meal prep lunches. This salad is also fabulous because my kids love it too. That’s always a win in my book.

Antipasto salad is perfect for a summer barbecue or dinner by the pool. This salad is so fresh and full of Italian flavors.

What is Antipasto

Antipasto means before food in Italian and consists of small appetizers served before your meal. These include small cured meats like salami or pepperoni, cheeses, and marinated vegetables like olives and artichoke hearts. Put all these together and you have a delicious salad.

Antipasto salad is full of delicious Italian flavors and a perfect light meal.

What to serve with Antipasto Salad

I like to eat this salad as a lunch or bring to a brunch with friends. To make this a rounded meal for your family, here are a few of our favorites:

Tips and Tricks to Making Antipasto Salad

I am going to walk you through some tips and tricks I use for this recipe here to help answer any questions that might arise as you prepare this salad. For the full step by step recipe, make sure to jump down to the bottom of this post and grab the recipe card.

Steps to making antipasto salad
  1. In a large bowl combine all the ingredients except for the dressing, stir to combine.
  2. Drizzle the dressing over the top and toss until everything is evenly coated.
    • If you are meal prepping this salad store the dressing separately.
  3. Chill for 10-15 minutes or until ready to serve!

FAQ’s for Antipasto Salad

Can I substitute ingredients that I have on hand?

This salad is perfect for substituting ingredients that you prefer. As long as you stay in the family of Italian meats you will not go wrong.

Is it better to use a creamy Italian dressing or a vinaigrette?

You can use either dressing on your salad. I prefer creamy Italian but any dressing you find at the store will work just fine.

How to store leftovers for Antipasto Salad

Since this salad is more hearty than green salads it can be saved and eaten after the initial serving.  To store salad, place the leftovers in an airtight container and place in the refrigerator for 1-3 days.  Before serving, toss the salad well to redistribute dressing. Antipasto salad cannot be frozen.
