Ingredients + Substitutions
- Flatbread – I use naan, but feel free to use another similar flatbread of your choice.
- BBQ Sauce – You can use your favorite store-bought variety or whip up a batch of homemade BBQ sauce.
- Shredded Cheese – I use a combination of shredded cheddar and mozzarella. The flavor of the cheddar is delicious with the BBQ sauce and chicken, but the mozzarella helps give it that classic cheesy pizza texture.
- Chicken – Any cooked, neutral-flavored chicken will work. Keep it simple by chopping up some Rotisserie chicken from the store or use up any leftover chicken you have in your fridge.
- Toppings – I love to finish my chicken BBQ flatbread with a layer of thinly sliced or diced red onion and a sprinkle of fresh, chopped cilantro!

Recipe Step by Step
I am going to highlight a few key steps in the recipe here, but make sure to jump down to the recipe card for comprehensive instructions on how to make BBQ chicken flatbread pizza.
- Place your flatbread of choice onto a baking sheet, then drizzle with BBQ sauce.
2. Use a spoon to spread the BBQ sauce all over the flatbread evenly.
3. Sprinkle the pizza evenly with the shredded cheese, then top that off with shredded chicken and red onion.
4. Bake at 425ºF until the crust is crispy and the cheese is melted. Garnish with cilantro, then slice and serve.
Recipe Tips
- Adjust amounts as needed – The beauty of a recipe this simple is that you can easily adjust the amounts to fit how many people you’re serving! Make it a one-serving, personal pizza recipe OR make extra to serve a crowd.
- Thinly slice or dice the onion – Red onion has a strong flavor, so I recommend slicing it really thinly or dicing it pretty darn small. This ensures that it doesn’t overtake the other flavors in this pizza.
- Cook at high heat – Because naan is pre-cooked, I like to use a high temperature (425ºF) to make sure it cooks quickly! Cooking too long at a lower temperature can make the crust soggy.
Recipe Short Cuts
If you need to make this recipe, but are extra short on time, here are a few ideas that can help make this recipe even faster!
- Use rotisserie chicken – Don’t want to prep any chicken? You can grab a pre-cooked rotisserie chicken from the store, then shred that up for your pizza topping.
- Use store-bought sauce – I love homemade BBQ sauce, but it does require a few extra steps. If you want to keep this recipe extra quick and easy, just use your favorite store-bought variety.
- Make it ahead of time – You can assemble and freeze before baking OR bake your pizza and store it in the refrigerator or freezer. That way, when you’re ready to serve it, all you need to do is thaw it and heat it up. Scroll below for freezer instructions!
