Ingredients + Substitutions
- Butter – I like to use salted butter for some added flavor. If you only have unsalted butter, you may want to add in some salt yourself.
- Parmesan Cheese – Freshly grated parmesan has delicious flavor, but pre-shredded will work too.
- Parsley – A sprinkle of parsley adds the perfect layer of freshness to the sauce.
- Garlic – I recommend freshly minced garlic for the best flavor. It is a featured ingredient, after all! If all you have is pre-pressed garlic, that will work just fine. You can also use garlic powder in a pinch, but fresh garlic is best!

Recipe Step by Step
I am going to highlight a few key steps in the recipe here, but make sure to jump down to the recipe card for comprehensive instructions on how to make garlic parmesan sauce for wings.
- In a large bowl, combine garlic, parmesan, parsley, and melted butter.
2. Mix all of the ingredients together until a uniform sauce is formed.
3. Toss pre-cooked chicken wings with your prepared garlic parmesan sauce, then lay the wings out on a baking sheet.
4. Bake the wings at 425ºF for4 10-15 minutes or until nice and crispy. Once they’re finished, remove them from the oven and brush with additional sauce if desired.
Recipe Tips
- Pre-bake the wings – This recipe is designed for chicken that has already been cooked. If you’re starting with raw chicken, make sure it’s cooked through before adding the sauce. It should be at an internal temperature of 165ºF.
- Add extra sauce after baking – This ensures that you’re getting all of that delicious flavor in every single bite.
- Use as a dipping sauce – Don’t want to coat your wings? This sauce is great on the side as a dipping sauce too!
- Don’t want to bake again? – You can skip the baking step and simply toss fully cooked wings with the sauce!

Garlic parmesan wing sauce is made with just a few basic ingredients – two already in the name! It’s a melted buttery base mixed with fresh parsley and, of course, garlic and parmesan.
Why add butter to wing sauce?
The butter adds flavor, helps coat the wings with the other ingredients, AND makes the chicken nice and crispy!
Can you sauce wings before baking?
In some recipes, yes. This recipe, however, is written for wings that have been pre-cooked. You’ll coat those with the sauce, then bake for an additional 10-15 minutes to get them nice and crispy!
