How to Make Pesto Cheese Bread
This recipe is really simple, but there are a few little tips and tricks I can lend you to get the absolute best pesto cheese bread out there! You can read through my notes here, and get the FULL recipe at the bottom of this post.
- Cut the load of French Bread in half-lengthwise.
- Make sure you get Italian or French bread for this recipe. It will work better that a baguette.
- Spread 1/2 of the pesto evenly on each side of the bread.
- I prefer to use fresh pesto. You can buy pre-made fresh pesto or make your own. You can also use pesto found in the jar at your local grocery store.
- Bake at 425 for 5 minutes, or until the edges are slightly baked.
- Remove from the oven and sprinkle with cheese. Return to the oven to bake for an additional 3-4 minutes.
- Make sure cheese is completely melted.
- Optional: Broil on high 3-4 minutes….
- Use the broil setting on your oven to cook the bread. Broil is different than bake because it uses only the top element at a high heat which keeps the bottom and middle softer on the bread.
- Keep a close eye on the bread. When broiling the oven will get very hot and the bread can go from white to burnt in seconds.
How to Store Pesto Cheese Bread
This Pesto Cheese Bread can be stored in an airtight container or ziplock bag in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
You can reheat this bread by placing it in the oven at 350 degrees for 5-8 minutes. If you reheat in the microwave the bread can become a bit rubbery or hard.
