Chocolate Covered Ritz Crackers – The EASY Way!
These are a Christmas cookie that my family has been making for generations. My mom used to make them with me and now I make them with my kids and it is something we all look forward to every holiday season.
These are incredibly family-friendly and super fun for everyone to decorate to their own liking. Plus, with only 3 required ingredients, they are extra easy to make. Even the littlest kids can help with these holiday cookies!
Why I LOVE this recipe!
- Quick – This is a no-bake recipe, meaning there is no waiting on the oven, there is no switching out batches, and all you have to do is fill, dip, and leave the crackers be for 15 minutes to set.
- Family-Friendly – Again, with this being a no-bake recipe, it is very kid friendly. They can dip them themselves in the chocolate and then decorate with sprinkles, crushed Oreos, little M & M’s, or anything else. You can also arrange the crackers into shapes to make snowmen, reindeer, or snowflakes.
- Simple – This recipe only takes three ingredients and then anything you have on hand for toppings. This makes these chocolate-covered ritz crackers incredibly simple!
- Make-Ahead Friendly – This chocolate-covered ritz treat can be made and then frozen. This makes them perfect for making ahead of time and enjoying throughout the season.

Ingredients + Substitutions
- Ritz Crackers – I like to use the mini round crackers to then turn them into little snowmen, but regular ritz crackers are great too!
- Peanut Butter – Creamy peanut butter ritz crackers dipped in chocolate is my preference, but you can certainly use chunky peanut butter too.
- Chocolate Almond Bark – Almond bark results is the best taste for these ritz crackers dipped in chocolate. And despite the name, chocolate almond bark is just a baker’s chocolate made with vegetable oil instead of butter .You can use melting chocolate instead like pictured above, but my personal preference is almond bark for the best flavor.
- White Almond Bark
- Sea Salt
- Use a Fork – For how to dip ritz crackers in chocolate, use a fork! This allows any excess chocolate to drip away when lifted out of the chocolate. And while I do love chocolate, I prefer an even coating of chocolate on these ritz chocolate crackers.
- Add the toppings early – To ensure the toppings stick to these ritz peanut butter chocolate cookies, add the toppings before the chocolate sets. Then whatever is added will be stuck in the chocolate.
- Parchment Paper is Your Friend – Be sure to place these chocolate peanut butter ritz cookies onto parchment paper to cool. Then you can peel the parchment paper off of them after the chocolate sets. You can use other things, but in my opinion, this is by far the easiest and most efficient method!
If you want to make this recipe extra special, here are a few options you can use to top the chocolate-covered ritz crackers to make them perfect for the holiday or event!
- Oreos – Crush them up to sprinkle overtop.
- Sea Salt – For the sophisticated audience, try a little flaky sea salt.
- Twizzlers – These are super fun to pull apart and use to make wreaths or ribbons.
- M&M’s – Another fun decorating option, these work great for reindeer eyeballs.
- White Chocolate – Melt a little white chocolate and drizzle it in the shape of a snowflake for a little festive flare.

- Chocolate Covered Ritz Crackers with Peanut Butter & Marshmallow– When filling the crackers, schmear a little marshmallow fluff on one side of the cracker and peanut butter on the other. Then dip them into chocolate as the recipe notes.
- Ritz Crackers Peanut Butter Dipped in White Chocolate– For this variation, simply swap out the chocolate almond bark with white chocolate almond bark.
How to Freeze Cookies
If you are wondering can you freeze chocolate covered ritz crackers? You sure can! These no-bake cookies will stay nice and fresh for up to 6 months in the freezer. When they come out, be mindful of the temperature change as they thaw. They can accumulate condensation, so it is best to let them thaw slowly in the refrigerator.
To freeze Chocolate Covered Ritz Crackers
- Make these cookies are directed and let them cool completely
- Remove from parchment paper and place in an air-tight container in layers, with parchment paper in between each layer.
- Store int he freezer for up to 6 months.
How to store cookies
If you have extras after making these chocolate peanut butter ritz crackers, they can be saved to munch on at a later time.
To save leftovers, separate into smaller portions and then place in an airtight container and store:
- in the on the counter for up to a week.
- in the freezer up to a month.

- 72 Ritz cracker, (about 3 sleeves)
- 1 cup peanut butter
- 12 oz chocolate almond bark, or chocolate melting candy
Decoration (your choice of)
- 2 tablespoons sprinkles
- 1 ounce white almond bark
- 2 teaspoons flakey salt
- Make peanut butter sandwiches by putting a small dollop of peanut butter on a cracker and pressing a second cracker on top.
- Melt the almond bark by placing it in a microwave safe dish and microwaving in 30 second increments, stirring in between until melted and smooth.
- Roll out a large piece of parchment paper or wax paper. Use a fork to submerge each sandwich cookie in the chocolate then lift it out and tap to shake off any excess chocolate. Transfer the cookies to the parchment.
- Cookies can be left plain or decorated/garnished with your choice of sprinkles, white chocolate, or flakey salt. Make sure to add the garnish
